As part of a major sand nourishment project for the Dutch coast, Scheveningen Beach was nourished in autumn 2023.

Scheveningen Beach is one of the best-known beaches in the Netherlands and is very popular among recreational users.

Filia Dredging contributed to the replenishment of Scheveningen Beach with the TSHD Willem Sr.

TSHD Willem Sr dredged up the sand about 11 kilometres off the coast and then sailed into the harbour of Scheveningen with the hopper full of sand.

In the Voorhaven, the Willem Sr connected to a floating pipeline. The hopper load was then pumped ashore through the pipeline to the beach.

Because unloading took place in the outer harbour, the dredgers benefited from a relatively short pipeline length and calmer conditions compared to the turbulent North Sea.

A total of about 800,000 cubic metres of sand was pumped onto Scheveningen beach by 5 trailing suction hopper dredgers.
